Connect Kroll to NarcCount (automatic sync)

A five-minute, one-time set-up on your Kroll server. After it, your narcotic and controlled-drug dispensing, receiving and on-hand come into NarcCount every night, with nothing to upload.

The whole set-up in two minutes, on a demo pharmacy.

Set it up once and you stop exporting reports. Every night NarcCount gets each narcotic, controlled and targeted fill with its Rx number, each wholesaler invoice Kroll received, and Kroll's on-hand. Differences between Kroll and NarcCount show up the next morning, between counts, instead of at the next count. When you start a count, NarcCount asks Kroll for fresh numbers and shows them beside each line.

Before you start

  • Use the computer that holds the Kroll database, usually called the Kroll server.
  • Sign in to Windows on it with an account that can install programs (the one Kroll updates use).
  • Have your NarcCount owner or admin sign-in handy, on any phone or computer.
  • Allow about five minutes. Kroll keeps working the whole time.

Run the set-up

  • On the Kroll server, open Windows PowerShell and paste: irm https://narccount.ca/kroll/setup.ps1 | iex
  • Click Yes when Windows asks for administrator permission. The NarcCount set-up window opens.
  • The window shows a short code. On your phone or computer, go to narccount.ca/link, sign in, enter the code and press Approve.
  • The set-up finds Kroll's database and your wholesalers by itself. Check the list and press Set up.
  • Wait for the checklist to finish: it installs, reads Kroll once as a test, checks against what NarcCount already holds, and runs the first sync. Then press Open NarcCount.

What it reads, and what never leaves

It only reads. It never changes Kroll. Its own database login can see the drug file, fills (Rx number, date, quantity, status), received wholesaler invoices, and on-hand, and nothing else: no patient, prescriber or directions field, so no name, health card number or address can leave the pharmacy. It runs as its own Windows account, sends only to narccount.ca over an encrypted connection, and installs an update only when it carries NarcCount's signature.

After set-up

It syncs at 2 a.m. every night, and whenever you press Sync now on the Connections page. Connections also lists any drug where Kroll and NarcCount differ, and a morning email tells you when there is something new. Invoices from wholesalers the set-up could not read stay as uploads: the set-up window tells you which.

Want us to do it with you?

We can run the whole set-up with you on a screen-share, free. Email support@narccount.ca or call us, and we will connect with TeamViewer at a time that suits you. You stay in control of the computer the whole time.

If the set-up stops

It says which step stopped and turns the sync off, so nothing is sent until it is fixed. Press Get help in the window, or email support@narccount.ca. The set-up keeps a log in C:\ProgramData\NarcCount\setup-logs, with no patient data or passwords in it.
